We provide broad learning opportunities as every child learns differently.
Reggio Emilia Inspired and Social-Emotional Development & Learning
We focus on independent work, using real-life objects/raw materials. Items and materials that are commonly seen around the child's home to make connections and master basic life skills. Activities are developmentally appropriate, as each displayed activity will be organized from easy to challenging. Once skills are mastered, they will naturally want to repeat or even try to master another activity/skill. Repetition is the key to learning a skill- children do this organically.
The Reggio Emilia philosophy is an approach to teaching, learning, and advocacy for children. It is a way of observing what children know, what they are curious about, and what challenges them. Reggio Emilia also focuses on collaborative work. They can explore with one another and practice their critical thinking, how to work in a group setting, and how to collaborate through a process.
Social-emotional Development is a child's self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Providing a safe and nourishing space for children to explore and process the breakdown of their emotions. We teach students to be mindful of themselves and others. We also guide and provide students with the tools they will use throughout their lives.
Research has shown that effective SEL programs contribute to improved social and emotional skills, enhanced academic performance, reduced behavioral problems, and better long-term outcomes for children. Along with improved mental health and positive relationships. SEL is recognized as a key component of a well-rounded education that prepares students for success in school, the workplace, and life.
Our placement of all activities follows the Montessori style. All activities are organized and follow our bi-weekly units. All activities and materials are placed back onto shelves as they were found for the next student to explore. Students learn practical life skills daily.
Pre-K (ages 5-6)
Our program provides children with the opportunity of the requirements for a private/public school setting. The next phase of a child's life is when they graduate from our program to a kindergarten classroom. We provide different academic opportunities such as the foundation of Phonics, Math, Speech/Language Development, Writing, etc. We gently guide our students through these set skills with grace. Guiding our students to be confident, empathetic, and critical thinkers. Students will have time to work independently and time to collaborate as well. Our outdoor program allows children to explore within a nature/natural setting.
We believe in intentional teaching and learning.
